Dr. Saroop Dhruv: She is an educator of culture with lenses of modernism, feminist writer and Activist. She is a founder of Kalam, which provides an outlet for women writers. She also writes poem and plays. She has received an award from Gujarati Sahitya Parishad and Takhtasinh Parmar Prize for her first poet collection ‘Mara Haath ni Vat of 1982. She was also awarded Hellman/Hammett Award for courageous writing in 2008. Her other poet collections were Salagti Havao, Hatakshep and Sahiyara Suraj ni Khojma. Her writing got appeared in Women Writing in India of 1995 and Modern Gujarati Poetry of 1998.
