Tasveer

Tasveer Program started in 2011 as teacher training program to enhance soft skills of educators and adolescents in both formal and informal setups to create worldview of peace, equality and social justice along with mainstream curriculum. Himmat has worked with 8 private schools and trained over 700 kids between age group of 11 to 14, aprox 200 adolescent girls (age group 14 to 18).

In late 2015 the program expanded in following areas.

Promoting Activity based learning

Himmat has been promoting activity based learning for children through toy making and their soft skill development in Vatwa. Currently these activities are conducted in to short term courses to develop basic science and math concept among children in informal setups. During summer and Diwali vacations in each year two one month long course are conducted.

School certification for working children.

This initiative is specially designed for children involved in earning for supporting their families financially. The program helps child to establish linkages for enrolling in NIOS (national institute of open schooling) and tution for the same. Children are offered two certification under this program one is intermediate and another is higher secondary school certification.

Exposure and linkages among youth.

Himmat establish linkages among students studying in premier institutes and community. The program establish dialogue between working and middle class of youth towards various social issues.

Fostering the feeling of ownership: Community expression center and Capacity building

Fostering belonging to a space, is gauged by the trust, freedom and confidence one has or the space offers. At Himmat, we create opportunities and activities for women to express. Space for women to play, shout, explore, dream, express. One such activity was scooter riding and cycling, which is a exploration for the women, for many even coming out of the house and making friends is an exploration, which we do through regular informal meetings at Himmat.
